The flood recovery has forced the Ironman Australia triathlon, which had been set down for May 2 in Port Macquarie, to be postponed.
The event will now be held on Sunday September 5th.
Theregional director of Ironman Australia, Chris Jarvis, says the decision has been made in conjunction with the Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
“We were in the community last week after unpredented events after all the floods… and came to the conclusion the community really needs to focus on recovery events… there is a long road ahead,” he said.
“So we will hold it later in the year when we can all celebrate and join in the fanfare of the event.
